Sweden Unlocked: How the Turing Scheme is changing lives, one adventure at a time!

From excited goodbyes at Heathrow to soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of Stockholm, a group of incredible individuals from Pluss recently embarked on an unforgettable journey – all thanks to the Turing Scheme. Let's dive into some of the highlights from their week, a testament to how travel can truly transform.

The Pluss adventurers wasted no time immersing themselves in the beauty and culture of Stockholm. Their itinerary was the perfect blend of historical charm and modern delights, starting by stepping back in time and wandering the cobbled streets of the Medieval Old Town of Gamla Stan. From there, they crossed into the vibrant New Town to soak up Stockholm's contemporary energy, creating a perfect mix of old and new, and enjoyed lunch in the sunny central park, Kungsträdgården, which was filled with good vibes and delicious food.

Their adventure continued with mind-bending fun at the Paradox Museum, where the interactive exhibits brought endless laughs and puzzles – Zoe's impressive camouflage skills and Marc's magical floating act were definite crowd-pleasers! For cultural immersion, they explored the stunning Kungliga Slottet (The Royal Palace) with an amazing guide who brought its rich history to life, and enjoyed a traditional Swedish meal which provided a true taste of local cuisine, including, of course, delicious meatballs. Each day brought new opportunities for independence, from navigating public installations outside Kulturhuset Stadsteatern that sparked teamwork and laughter, to planning their own routes and spotting the ABBA Museum sign. They also took a ferry ride to Skansen, Sweden’s famous open-air museum and zoo and even enjoyed a lively musical show featuring an Elvis-singing washing machine! Their final day kicked off at the Viking Museum, where some even dressed up in full Viking gear and tried writing in ancient runes.

For many, the absolute highlight was their visit to the iconic ABBA The Museum. Rocking up in tinsel wigs and oversized glasses, the group fully embraced the magic. They stepped into the band's famous car, tried out the recording studio, and even joined ABBA on stage via hologram! It was an unforgettable morning filled with belting out hits and soaking up the essence of Sweden's legendary musical export.

More Than Just Sightseeing: Building Confidence and Connections

Beyond the incredible sights and experiences, this trip was fundamentally about personal growth. Each day was a testament to building confidence, fostering independence, and creating lifelong memories. From working together to navigate new places to simply enjoying quiet moments of reflection by the water, the trip provided invaluable opportunities for self-discovery and strengthening friendships. As they waved goodbye to Stockholm, with full hearts and big smiles, it was clear this journey was more than just a holiday. It was an adventure that sparked joy, encouraged discovery, and cemented the belief that life-changing experiences abroad are truly within reach.
