Financial Support for Level 3 Courses
Free level 3 qualifications for adults
If you’re aged 19 or over, you could access a level 3 qualification for free. This is part of the support available from the government to help you gain the skills you need to get the job you want - whatever your stage of life.
A level 3 qualification is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or A levels.
The qualifications could help you:
· gain skills that employers value
· improve your job prospects
· earn a higher wage
If you’re eligible, you will not have to pay for your level 3 qualification. The government will pay the course fees.
You can get a free level 3 qualification if you:
· are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification
· already have a level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319 from April 2023)
· already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed

Advanced Learner Loans to fund level 3 qualifications for adults
Fund your qualification with a learner loan, with nothing to pay until you earn over £25k a year.
Advanced learner loans are available for learners aged 19+ to pay for course fees for qualifications at level 3 or above. Advanced learner loans give people access to financial support for tuition costs similar to that available in higher education and are administered by Student Finance England.
These loans are designed for adults that want to gain higher level qualifications, which often lead to promotions or higher paid jobs. When you start to earn over £25,000 per year, the loan starts to be repaid, usually being taken directly from your salary. The loan doesn’t depend on your current income and there are no credit checks. It’s an ideal way to help you take the next step or give yourself the freedom to retrain.
If you want to improve your prospects, get a promotion or if you’re considering a career change then a learner loan can help you to gain a qualification at level 3 which can show that you are interested in improving your skills and are motivated to learn.
Steps in the Advanced Learner Loan Process:

2. Speak to one of our learning advisors
3. We will assess your eligibility and confirm the course offer
4. You will apply for the Advanced Learner Loan and receive approval. More info here.
5. You will start the course and only start repaying the loan after you earn over £25,000 a year.
