Functional Skills

…is the phrase used to describe everyday Maths and English skills.

There are many reasons why adults don’t hold up to date qualifications. They may have been busy with a family or other commitments. In the current job market, up to date qualifications are more important than ever – especially everyday use functional skills.

Attending one of our functional skills courses could improve your chances of getting a job, or if you are already employed – could make day-to-day tasks easier and increase your chances of promotion improve your employment prospects, help you get on at work or prepare you for further study.

There are no tuition fees for our functional skills courses and they take place in various venues across the city. Courses start at different times, and our tutors make learning fun and interesting.

How do I start?

Improve your skills with other adults in a supportive learning environment, we offer regular taster courses where our friendly tutors will assess your level and recommend the right course for you. Advice and support is always available and courses are FREE!
